Colorado Association of Dog Daycares was founded to provide information and guidance for new and existing Colorado Dog Daycares. While encouraging the pursuit of excellence by our members through honest effort, fair play and personal integrity, we will provide appropriate information and resources necessary to promote dog daycares as a viable and safe industry in Colorado. Alternately this website is to help potential clients find the best facility for their needs.
The Colorado Association of Dog Daycares encourages its members to reach for a standard of excellence beyond the requirements for state licensure. State licensure covers facility related criteria such as construction materials, space requirements and sanitation but not behavioral evaluation of client dogs, or staff experience and training. CADD’s Gold Standard Accreditation is designed to demonstrate the facility’s commitment to providing the highest level of professional dog management and care. If you would like more information on the accreditation, please click here
CADD has also developed a sample behavioral questionnaire to assist our members. For a copy of the sample questionnaire please see the following link
Here is a short movie about how dog daycares operate. (Click the triangle on the screen to start the movie.)
The Colorado Association of Dog Daycares is pleased to announce a partnership with the Colorado Veterinary Medical Foundation. This year marks the Ninth Annual Mutts and Models event and it’s THE place for animal lovers to see and be seen. Local celebrities, philanthropists, young professionals, and prancing pooches will gather together to raise money for Harrison Memorial, Colorado ’s largest not-for-profit veterinary hospital. The event raises nearly $90,000 to help pets and people in need. We invite you to join us in the Land of "Pawz" where ruby red high heels meet Toto down the yellow brick runway for this very special event.
Thanks in great part to CADD and its wonderful members (especially Cristal Newell and Joann Farrend) we now have our own voice in PACFA. Dog Day Care’s are now represented by their own seat on the PACFA advisory committee! Joann Farrend of Winston’s Doggy Playhouse is our first representative on the committee. Joann welcomes feedback from all dog day cares and her contact information is by email winsplayhouse@comcast.net or by phone at 303-805-9640.
PACFA has an advisory committee that is made up of eleven members of the pet care industry who represent various entities including grooming, boarding, retail, shelters and the general public. Any changes to the PACFA rules must be approved through the advisory committee.. Our seat is important because it will allow dog daycare licensees a voice in any future rule changes.
The CADD board has also appointed a subcommittee to work on putting together behavioral standards for CADD members. The subcommittee that worked on this project has been developing a voluntary “Gold Standard Accreditation”. The Gold Standard Accreditation will go to CADD members that make dog behavioral training in a day care environment a key part of their staff development program. The board also intends for these standards to serve as a guide for new businesses. For a draft of the standards please follow the link Gold Standard Accreditation
